What is OrFA’s Mission? 2014-05-07T16:19:19+00:00

OrFA’s mission is to help orphans in impoverished Southeast Asia access quality education. We provide a path, by funding school fees and opening opportunities for these youth to realize their educational goals.

What programs does OrFA run? 2016-03-02T02:31:47+00:00

We envision a comprehensive approach to help kids of all ages or abilities through three programs: Fresh Start, Future Prep and Special Education. We launched our Fresh Start program, which covers education fees for orphans from nursery school through high school, in fall 2015. We anticipate launching our Fresh Start program in Thailand in 2016.

How does OrFA choose which orphanages to partner with? 2017-03-31T15:39:31+00:00

First, our local staff visits potential partner orphanages to review their operations, finances and values. Once qualified, we develop a multi‐year funding strategy which involves fundraising in the United States as well as the local country. Through frequent site visits to the orphanages, we hope to build lasting relationships with the orphanages and to track progress to ensure sustainable and  effective change.

Who is OrFA’s staff in Vietnam and Thailand? 2016-03-02T02:33:26+00:00

We have administrative volunteers and general volunteers in Vietnam and Thailand who play key roles in conducting due diligence and building relationships with the local orphanages. Our volunteers are also working professional in a wide range of disciplines.

Why Southeast Asia? 2014-03-31T18:34:35+00:00

After hearing stories of the orphans from their mother, the founders Chau and Thai‐Ahn traveled to Vietnam and visited their first orphanage. They returned from the Duc Son orphanage determined to help provide education for the orphans in Vietnam and expand to the rest of Southeast Asia‐ a region with one of the highest orphan rates.

Who is on OrFA’s team? 2014-03-31T19:10:59+00:00

We are a dynamic team of young professionals who offer fresh perspectives, working in different industries‐ from entertainment and social work to law and accounting.

We take you and your time seriously. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year. Through online communication tools, there is more flexibility to work on tasks remotely. But we expect volunteers to be responsive and dedicated.
